Let's Be Honest

You ain't my mother
And I ain't your damn kid
I'm tired of people feeling righteous
    by helping me
Look into my eyes
Tell me you don't need
    someone to touch
    to kiss and hold
You know the truth about you
But instead you act tough
Hiding the weakness within
I can understand
This ain't no easy world
It's just your way of getting along
Why do you pretend with me
You think I can't see
I wouldn't hurt you
Because I wouldn't want anyone
    to hurt me
That's how I got along
    you see
Why do we wear these clothes?
Why do we hide everything inside?
Who told us we had to?
I didn't
Did you
Why is it a sin to be free?
    or is it
    We are afraid to be
