Tried By Fire

I've been tried by fire
    And come clean
So I ask that you forget about the past
Let's be friends at last
    You might have felt ashamed
But it was never you who was to blame
The anger might have seemed insane
But I declare myself innocent
Nobody could explain
Ashamed
I must not have been to blame
    either
It must have been that woman
    Who claimed she loved me
Expected me to care about her
    Care for her
And had no concern for me
It must be
Because I've been tried by fire
    and come clean
