Who Is The Master Helmsman

A person sees a thing
But doesn't see a thing
It can be just and fair
It could be an awful thing to share
Doesn't always see what's there
Don't always see the other side
A hundred reasons why
A hundred reasons why not
A cloud appears
And disappears again
As people stand by

We read a book
Take a course
They're telling us how we are
Do they know themselves
Can't see it for ourself
We believe them
Their degree tells us
    they can
Are they being honest about it
Building up their pride
Deflating their softer side
I just want a cup of coffee
    to relax

Dad
They're trying to assume the watch
I've sold my helm
but the Master Helmsman
Will be back
